Hero MotoCorp is going to hike prices of its entire line-up post 1 January 2018. This step will be taken to compensate for the rising input costs.
While the exact hike in price varies from model to model, the average increase in the ex-showroom price will be around Rs 400. The hike has been attributed to the increase in transportation, operational and other input costs. Given that it has been a while since the manufacturer increased prices, the less than one per cent hike seems reasonable.
This announcement was made during the unveiling of three new Hero models – the Passion Pro, Passion XPro and the Super Splendor 125 earlier this week. Sales of two-wheelers experience a drop in December every year, as customers prefer having the next year’s date on the registration papers, which helps the vehicle hold its value better over time. However, this announcement might give the sales a small boost.
