Hero MotoCorp will be adding three new scooters to its portfolio. While the production version of the Hero Dare will go on sale in the first quarter of 2018, the other two scooters will be launched in the next financial year.
The first of the three scooters will be a 125cc offering — a production version of the Dare concept which was unveiled at the 2012 Auto Expo. It will compete against the likes of the Suzuki Access and the Honda Activa 125. Details about the other two models are unavailable for now. But we expect one of them to be a production version of either the Leap hybrid or the Duet E electric scooter. Although Hero currently enjoys a 50 per cent share in the Indian two-wheeler market, the share of its scooter market is just 12 per cent. The company aims to improve this number by introducing new products.
Earlier this year, the CMD of Hero MotoCorp, Pawan Munjal, had announced in the company's shareholders annual report that they were planning to launch six new products across segments. Of these, the Xtreme 200S will be the first product to go on sale in India.
