After tasting success with the Maestro Edge, Hero MotoCorp is putting more energy and resources into the scooter segment.
While the company didn’t showcase or unveil a new scooter at the 2016 Auto Expo, the Gurgaon-based manufacturer has prioritised its scooter plans for the current financial year. It plans to launch a new range of scooters and we believe the Dare and the Zir are a part of this big plan. With the launch of the Maestro Edge and the Duet, Hero has been able to register almost close to 23 per cent growth in the last two months. In fact, these two new scooters have helped Hero surpass the Honda scooters as the latter was unable to meet the demand due to its production constraints.
Hero MotoCorp has a clear focus with its scooter strategy. The company has very strong brands like the Splendor and the Passion that takes care of their mass market motorcycle segment. Now, Hero wants to do the same with scooters and it would be possible only when they’ve a new range of scooters. With four scooters doing the job in the 110cc segment, the next possible launch from Hero MotoCorp will be the production version of the Dare. Once the Dare is launched, the company will be able to take the Honda Activa and the Suzuki Access head on, as there are considerable amount of sales in this segment.
We know a lot of motorcycle enthusiasts are little disappointed with the delay in the HX250R launch. Hero MotoCorp blamed the Erik Buell Racing bankruptcy, however, the HX250R launch plan is still on the cards, but scooters first.
