Hero MotoCorp will be unveiling two new products for the Indian market tomorrow. The company has announced this through an official invite to BikeWale but hasn’t confirmed on the specific models. But looking at the invite, we can safely say it is going to be a motorcycle and a scooter.
But we are expecting this scooter not to be an ordinary one. It is the production model of India’s first hybrid scooter, the Leap. The concept model of this hybrid scooter was unveiled by the company at 2012 Auto Expo. There are many reasons why we think tomorrow’s scooter could be the production model of the Leap. Firstly, during the announcement of Hero’s three new engines that was successfully tested, Pawan Munjal, MD of Hero MotoCorp, had confirmed the launch of motorcycles that would be powered by three new engines along with the production model of the Leap.
Secondly, the company has teased two pictures of the models in the official invite. In one of the pictures, Hero has displayed the side angle of the rear of the scooter. Hero has redesigned the entire rear end, except the alloy design. The alloys look exactly the same as the ones that featured on the concept model.
Thirdly, Hero MotoCorp had released an official video for the Leap electric-hybrid scooter at the 2012 Auto Expo. The video features a tag line “Hero for future. Future for everyone. Future that is green. Future with a purpose. Future with a promise and the future is now”. The invite that Hero has sent to BikeWale also has a part of the tag line “Future is here. Future is now”. All these findings clearly indicate that the Leap production model is coming to us tomorrow. Along with the Leap, we can expect to see an electric-hybrid motorcycle as well.
Stay tuned to BikeWale as we get you more details from the press conference tomorrow.
