Having dominated the commuter motorcycle segment in India, Hero MotoCorp will now turn its attention towards the premium end of the motorcycle market. The Xtreme 200R is just the tip of the iceberg, and the company is planning to introduce a slew of new premium offerings over the next 18 months.
With the new Xtreme 200R, Hero now has a platform which can spawn motorcycles of different genres. For one, we can expect the new Karizma to use the same platform with a higher capacity engine. While the Xtreme 200R will feature a price tag below Rs 1 lakh, the Karizma will be targeted at someone looking for a more premium offering. And then there is the XPulse. During the EICMA, Hero had stopped short of revealing the specifications of the XPulse, although we can expect it to get the same 200cc engine, albeit in a different state of tune.
Hero MotoCorp will also be setting up a network of premium outlets to sell the new range, although this plan is still in a nascent stage. As for the Auto Expo, Hero will be announcing the prices of its commuter motorcycle range, along with showcasing a few concepts.
