The Karizma was Hero MotoCorp’s flagship motorcycle brand until it was discontinued few years ago. While the bike is still listed on its official website, the company doesn’t make any of it for the Indian market. But things might change once the company readies the new Karizma motorcycles.
As per our sources, the Gurgaon-based manufacturer is working on new Karizma bikes for the Indian as well for the international markets. The second generation Karizma R and the ZMR which were co-developed with Erik Buell Racing failed to entice the market. In fact, one of the major reasons the bike failed was because of its design that was seen as a downgrade from the first generations. The first generations were more city friendly with its upright sitting position and were also known to be a great tourers. The second generation bikes had sportier styling and ergonomics because it was developed by Erik Buell Racing which has a racing history.
The top honchos of the company weren’t happy with the way brand value of Karizma decreased over a period of time. So in order to bring back this famous brand, a team of designers and engineers are working towards reinventing it. Unfortunately, these bikes won’t make it to the market for the next two years, which makes us believe that Hero is keeping these bikes for 2019 Auto Expo. That is when most of the manufacturers are expected to unveil their BS-6 compliant two-wheelers.
