Hero MotorCorp reported a sales figure of 5.91 lakh units for the month of April 2017. This indicates a decline by 3.49 per cent in comparison to their sales in the corresponding month last year. In April 2016, the company sold 6.12 lakh units.
But the company is not too worried about the falling numbers. A statement put out by the company affirms this. “The two-wheeler industry witnessed heavy retail off-take towards the end of March 2017 in view of transition from BS III to BS IV vehicles,” said the statement. “With the ongoing marriage season, the company expects to maintain the trend of robust sales in May."
Presently, Splendor and HF Deluxe are the leading contributors to the company’s sales. The Maestro Edge also does it fair bit to get the cash register ringing. In fact, it currently accounts for third highest sales in the scooter sector.
A rise in cost of commodities, effective from 1 May 2017, has also led the company to hike the prices of its entire product portfolio. This hike ranges from Rs 500 up to Rs 2200.
Recently Hero updated the majority of their portfolio with BS-IV norms and added new paint schemes to several of their popular models. This should help Hero in achieving a jump in their sales.
