A month after it was booted off its perch by the Bajaj Discover, the Hero Motorcorp’s Splendor has once again achieved phenomenal sales to take back the position it had been holding for the last 17 years.
While Hero was able to sell 1.8 units of the Splendor, Bajaj sold a marginally lesser 1.52 lakh units of the Discover. The Gurgaon based manufacturer has attributed this rise in number to strong sales of the model in rural areas as well as increased spending by consumers due to the onset of the festival season.
Meanwhile, Hero has also re-started production of its premium commuters the Hunk and the Xtreme. It had stopped their production temporarily while migrating from the Honda JV. It is likely the company will now cash in on the premium factor of the bikes to ensure sales.
