Hero Electric has announced a new feature for its scooter, the Optima HX. The city speed electric scooter will be equipped with cruise control. The Hero Optima HX electric scooter is available from Rs 55,580 onwards (ex-showroom price after the revised FAME 2 subsidy).
This new feature is aimed to allow the rider to maintain a constant speed for comfortable riding. The rider can press the cruise control button to activate the function. Once activated, speedometer will reflect the cruise symbol. Furthermore, similar to the other vehicles, the cruise control system can be deactivated by braking or twisting the throttle.
Commenting on the addition of the new feature, Sohinder Gill, CEO, Hero Electric, said that some of the features like cruise control become an integral part of the vehicle while some others like Bluetooth and GPS connectivity are left to the choice of the customer.
Apart from the announcement of the new feature, Hero Electric also said in its press statement that it will launch a new tech centre, expand the R&D team, and recruit new talent for powertrain development and vehicle design. The electric vehicle manufacturer will also continue to associate with multiple EV startups and Tier One partners. The company will focus on the Internet of Things (IoT), energy efficiency, connectivity, and user-interface product verticals in the coming years.
