- New Hero Passion Plus spied
- To make a comeback after a few years
- Powered by the same engine as the Splendor Plus
The Hero Passion Plus is all set to make a comeback after being discontinued during the BS6 transition. The motorcycle was recently spied on in India at what looked like a dealer event, hinting at its imminent launch.
As of now, Hero has two models bearing the ‘Passion’ moniker in its portfolio. However, these are fancier and more modern-looking, 113cc offerings. The Passion Plus, on the other hand, will be a more rugged workhorse with a smaller 97.2cc, air-cooled engine that’s available only on the Splendor Plus as of now. Although the engine crankcase of the Passion Plus looks different, the tuning might remain unchanged. This unit churns out 7.91bhp and 8.05Nm and comes mated to a four-speed gearbox. One obvious change will be the inclusion of the OBD2 system for compliance with phase 2 of BS6 norms.
Although the overall stance and silhouette look closely similar to the older Passion Plus, the next-generation model boasts some changes which make it look fresh. The headlamp cowl, the tail lamp, and the grab rail have been redesigned while the black alloy wheels are adorned with white rim takes. As for the paint schemes, the two colour options, and accompanying decals, spotted at the dealer event were identical to the older model of the bike.
Notably, this update has come a few weeks after the official launch of the Honda Shine 100 which will be the new Hero Passion Plus’ closest rival. The prices of the Passion Plus aren’t known yet but it will surely be more expensive than the Splendor Plus that starts from Rs 72,076 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
