Hero MotoCorp has launched the Passion Pro TR in the Indian market at Rs 51,550 (ex-showroom Delhi). The Passion Pro TR is mechanically identical to the regular Passion Pro commuter motorcycle, though it has been given several cosmetic and functional upgrades to give it a distinctive off-roader look.
The upgrades on the Passion Pro TR include different off-road tyres, a headlamp grill, raised front fender, fuel tank pads, a tyre hugger and a bash plate for the engine. It has also been equipped with knuckle guards, restyled mirrors and new handlebars with cross brace. In keeping with the Hero MotoCorp tradition, the Passion Pro TR also gets new graphics and a host of colour options.
The Passion Pro TR employs the same four-stroke single-cylinder engine that churns out 7.7bhp and 8Nm of torque, through a four-speed gearbox. Stopping power is provided by a disc brake in the front and a drum brake at the rear. The Hero Passion PRO TR will be available in three colour schemes – black with sports red, electric blue and sports red.
The Passion Pro TR isn’t the Delhi-based manufacturer’s first product in this off-beat segment as the company had also launched the 150cc Impulse off-roader a couple of years ago. While the Impulse is a very competent off-roading motorcycle, it failed to catch the Indian customers’ imagination, which eventually led to the motorcycle being discontinued. With the Passion PRO TR however, Hero MotoCorp has overlooked the enthusiast and is targeting the commuter audience which is ready to pay a small amount for the off-beat look and the extra contraptions.
