For Hero MotoCorp, 2018 is all about diversifying into new two-wheeler segments. It unveiled its 125cc scooters, the Maestro Edge 125 and the Duet 125, and also their 200cc motorcycle, the Xtreme 200R.
After these products are introduced in the market, which is expected to happen in the next few months, the Gurgaon-based manufacturer will shift its focus on the XPulse. This entry-level adventure bike will hit the Indian market during the festive season, which begins from September.
The Xpulse is powered by the same 200cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine as the Xtreme 200R but with revised gearing. This unit produces 18.4bhp and 17.1Nm of torque via a five-speed gearbox. It gets a 14-litre fuel tank capacity with a range of 450km.
While aesthetically, the XPulse doesn't appeal much, but it does get features that should do the job. It gets an off-road style front mud guard, visor, hand guards and engine sump guard. To take care of those jumps, the XPulse is equipped with 190mm of suspension travel for the front and a 10-step adjustable monoshock at the rear with 170mm of suspension travel. The ground clearance stands at 200mm which is very impressive. Other features include a full-LED headlamp and a digital instrument cluster that can be connected to your phone via Bluetooth. This unit shows navigation that could prove useful in everyday life.
The Hero Xpulse is expected to carry a price tag of anything between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 1.3 lakh.
