Yes, Hero sold more Pleasure scooters than the newer and more efficient Maestro in May. The sales units for the Pleasure went up to 25,589 from 8,790 units while, the Maestro dropped from 35,445 to 7,953 units.
These sales figures are most likely owing to Hero’s manufacturing strategy. To make it simple, Hero can only produce a certain capacity of scooters at their plant and are shuffling between the scooter models according to the demand. It is likely that the Pleasure had a waiting list required to be met and Hero went ahead and lowered the output of the Maestro to deliver all those Pleasure scooters.
The Maestro averages much higher numbers in terms of sales for Hero, between 30,000 – 50,000 units. The Pleasure averages between 10,000 – 15,000 units which is pretty respectful for scooter of its age. The Pleasure is powered by a single-cylinder 102cc engine which produces 7bhp and 8Nm of torque. The four-stroke air-cooled engine is mated to an automatic gearbox with dry centrifugal clutch mechanism and available in a wide variety of colours.
Hero recently introduced the Maestro Edge which is an almost all-new scooter if compared to the standard model. It is also Hero’s first scooter that has been developed completely in-house. Read our first ride review here.
