2016 was a fantastic year for Hero MotoCorp. The company sold 67,62,980 units in the last calendar year as compared to 64,86,103 units in 2016, registering a 4.3 per cent growth.
This massive sales number is a result of strong demand for its Splendor and Passion range of bikes in metros as well as in the rural markets. The demand for its new scooters – the Maestro Edge and the Duet helped the Gurgaon-based manufacturer garner additional market share in the fastest growing segment. The Glamour has also helped Hero to have a stronghold in the 125cc segment where the Honda CB Shine also has good brand value.
2016 also saw the launch of Hero’s first in-house developed motorcycles – the Splendor iSmart 110 and the Achiever 150. The former was launched in July whereas the latter was introduced in September. Both the motorcycles saw good demand as well as research activities on the internet. With a strong product portfolio in the volume segment, Hero MotoCorp is gearing up to launch its upcoming premium bike – the Xtreme 200S which might be launched this month.
While the sales of the company grew in the last calendar year, its research activities saw a considerable drop on BikeWale. Its former partner Honda is the most researched brand on BikeWale, followed by Bajaj.
