Back in May, Hero MotoCorp updated one of its most popular models, the Splendor Plus with the Xtec treatment. The Splendor Plus Xtec packs quite some features over its base model. On the other hand, the HF Deluxe packs a similar motor as the Splendor and even the hardware to some extent. So let’s compare the two commuters on paper and see which one comes at the top.
Design
Both the Hero offerings sport a very conservative and family-friendly design. Adhering to a commuter’s basics, the Splendor Plus Xtec and the HF Deluxe’s priority is utility and both offer it aplenty. With the Xtec treatment, the Splendor Plus gets an additional LED DRL which the HF Deluxe misses out on. Elsewhere, the two bikes get a single-piece seat and are lightweight which makes them convenient for pretty much every rider.
Features
The Hero Splendor Plus Xtec features an LED DRL, a fully digital console with smartphone connectivity for call and SMS notifications, a USB charging slot and other essential readouts. The HF Deluxe on the other hand gets an analogue display and doesn’t get any connectivity features whatsoever.
Engine
Hero has plonked in a 97.2cc air-cooled engine in both the bikes. The power output too is the same for the Splendor Xtec and the HF Deluxe at 7.9bhp and 8.05Nm. So, the real-world performance is altered very minimally with the weight difference in consideration. Both bikes get a 4-speed gearbox.
Hardware
Even the hardware for the two bikes has been shared – telescopic front forks and dual rear springs, 130mm drum brakes at both ends, and 18inch alloys. But the Splendor gets a 5-step adjustable rear suspension while the HF Deluxe’s unit is only 2-step adjustable. The Splendor Plus Xtec can hold 9.8-litres of petrol and the HF Deluxe gets a 9.6-litre tank.
Price
The asking price for the Hero Splendor Plus Xtec starts from Rs 73,928 (ex-showroom Delhi) while the HF Deluxe retails at Rs 59,890 (ex-showroom Delhi) for the base model. That said, even the top-spec HF Deluxe priced at Rs 65,520 costs less than the Splendor Plus Xtec.
