Some pictures of the first batch of Splendor Pro Classic motorcycles at a dealership were leaked a few weeks ago, though Hero MotoCorp had decided to withhold the price of the motorcycle. Now though, our sources have informed us that the Splendor Pro classic has been priced at Rs 53,356 (ex-showroom Mumbai) and that the deliveries have officially commenced.
Styled to resemble the classic cafe racers of the bygone era, the Splendor Pro Classic was one of the most intriguing motorcycles that Hero MotoCorp had showcased at the Delhi Auto Expo, earlier this year. The Splendor Pro Classic is based on the country’s favourite commuter motorcycle, the Splendor. It gets several classic styling cues like a new handle bar, which has been designed to resemble clip-ons, a round headlamp and tail lamp. The fuel tank, rear cowl and the single seat have also been designed like a traditional cafe racer. The rear-view mirrors, headlamp ring, instrument cluster rings, front and rear fenders, suspension and the silencer have been finished in chrome to enhance its classic appeal.
The Splendor Pro Classic is powered by the tried and tested air-cooled 97.2cc single-cylinder engine from the Splendor series, which produces 8.2bhp and 8.05Nm of torque through a four-speed gearbox. It gets standard drum brakes for both wheels and the fuel tank can accommodate 11-litres of fuel. Hero hasn’t offered a pillion seat on the Splendor Pro Classic, even as an optional extra, which might be a deal breaker for some customers.
The Splendor Pro Classic is available in two paint schemes- carbon black and solid maroon, with old-school pin stripe decals on the fuel tank and side panels. While the idea for the Splendor Pro Classic was clearly inspired by the Royal Enfield Continental GT, the lucrative price tag has put the Splendor Pro Classic well within the budget of a majority of Indian customers. Though it might not succeed in drawing the interest of the enthusiasts in the country, we think that this Hero MotoCorp definitely deserves some praise for bringing the exciting segment within the grasp of the masses.
Thanks to Anuj, Dinesh from Hero showroom, Malad and William for the pictures.
