Hero Splendor Pro facelift launched in India at Rs 46,850

The new Hero Splendor Pro has been launched in India at Rs 46,850 (ex-showroom, Delhi). This flagship model in Hero MotoCorp's Splendor range of commuter motorcycles has been updated with a host of cosmetic updates and paint schemes, in an attempt to jazz up the plain vanilla commuter motorcycle's looks.

The bikini fairing of the new Splendor Pro has been redesigned and now features a new curvier windshield. The redesigned body panels, utility box and the fuel tank along with the decals give the motorcycle a contemporary look. The seat has been broadened to improve the ride comfort, while the new three-pod instrument cluster now includes a side stand indicator. Complementing the new paint schemes are the body coloured mirrors,  a new chrome-plated exhaust shield and the silver grab rail.

There aren't any changes to the greasy bits including the powertrain, suspension and brakes. The new Splendor Pro continues to employ the tried and tested 97cc single-cylinder APDV engine, which delivers 8bhp and peak torque of 8Nm through a four-speed gearbox. The Splendor Pro rides on 18-inch wheels with five-spoke alloy wheels.

The new Splendor Pro is Rs 2,700 more expensive than the previous model, which seems quite steep for just a few cosmetic upgrades. Sales of the new Splendor Pro and the recently launched Maestro Edge across all dealerships will commence tomorrow, which happens to be the first day of Navratra.

Besides the six old paint schemes, the Splendor Pro's palette now includes two new shades - shield gold and black red. The bike is offered in four variants to cater to a range of budgets. The Splendor Pro competes with other 100cc commuter motorcycles like the TVS Star City Plus, Honda CD Dream, Bajaj Discover 100M and the Mahindra Centuro.
