A new spy shot of the Hero Super Splendor facelift has been circulating over the internet. While the spy shot only shows a glimpse of the bike’s instrument console, the big news is that this 125cc commuter motorcycle will come armed with Hero MotoCorp’s proprietary i3S technology.
The i3S, or integrated start-stop system, is a feature which helps save fuel in city conditions. The i3S automatically cuts power to engine, whenever the gearbox is slotted into neutral for more than four seconds. This means that whenever you need to stop at a traffic signal, all you need to do is engage neutral and the i3S will turn off the engine for you. As soon as the signal turns green, you need to pull the clutch and the engine will start by itself. Apart from the addition of i3S, we can also expect the Super Splendor iSmart to get a host of cosmetic updates and new paint schemes.
Since its launch, the Splendor iSmart has become one of the best-selling trims in the Splendor’s line-up. While the Super Splendor isn’t very popular amongst the masses, the inclusion of i3S should help increase its appeal among the efficiency-cautious audience. The Super Splendor iSmart is expected to be laucnhed at the 2016 Auto Expo with a price tag around Rs 56,000. It will compete with other 125cc commuter motorcycles like the Honda CB Shine, Bajaj Discover 125, TVS Phoenix, Yamaha Saluto and the Suzuki Sling Shot Plus.
