Hero MotoCorp launched the Super Splendor Xtecrecently with an asking price of Rs. 83,368 for the drum variant and Rs. 87,268 for the disc brake model (both prices are ex-showroom, Delhi). And it packs a set of new features like LED illumination and a digital console with smartphone connectivity for call and SMS alerts. However, if the new Splendor model does not smite you, then here are five other offerings that you could opt for instead. Bajaj Pulsar 125.
One of the first options on this list is the Bajaj Pulsar 125. It’s priced at Rs. 81,414 (ex-showroom, Delhi) and packs a 124.4cc single-cylinder engine making 11.64bhp and 10.8Nm. It’s mated to a five-speed gearbox and comes nestled in a butch bodywork. The Pulsar 125 gets the same styling as its elder siblings and features a muscular fascia, tank, and overall design. Its 124cc motor offers good low and mid-range grunt, which a commuter bike needs. Even the rider triangle is a good mix of relaxed and slightly sporty postures. Not to mention, the maintenance on the Bajaj Pulsar 125 is relatively low, making it easy to live with.
Honda Grazia
Apart from motorcycles, there are a couple of 125 scooters as well that can serve as alternatives to the Splendor Xtec. The first one is the Honda Grazia, with an asking price of Rs. 82,520 (ex-showroom, Delhi). It gets a modern and youthful bodywork with equal practicality as well. The Grazia’s 124cc engine makes 8.14bhp and 10.12Nm and is quite refined. Honda has provided it with a comfortable riding posture, and the handling is also very likable. Moreover, Honda has equipped the Grazia with features like LED illumination, a twin digital instrument console, a side-stand indicator with engine cut-off, an external fuel filler, and an idling stop system. All these bits add to the user experience and make the Grazia a viable purchase.
TVS Jupiter 125
The TVS Jupiter has been a fairly popular name but that was more suited for the 110cc model. However, with the growing competition, TVS launched the Jupiter 125, which costs Rs. 82,825 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Its 124.8cc single-cylinder engine produces 8.04bhp and 10.5Nm. The setup is quite economical, and the scooter also seems to focus on practicality. It gets large under-seat storage since the fuel tank has been placed below the floorboard. This has allowed TVS to move the fuel lid to the front apron, making it easy to refuel. Further, the seat is also very spacious and can easily accommodate two people with a little more room left. Overall, the Jupiter 125 offers good value for money and comes loaded with the necessary features.
Honda SP 125
The next option is the Honda SP 125 which comes with a price tag of Rs. 84,204 (ex-showroom, Delhi). It gets a 124cc motor that dishes out 10.72bhp and a torque of 10.9Nm. It’s linked to a five-speed gearbox and offers laudable refinement. Not to mention, the SP 125’s engine is quite fuel efficient which makes it easy to live with. Another positive about this Honda offering is the ride quality. The upright seating posture is complemented well by the suspension setup making the SP 125 a preferable option for commuting in the city as well on the highway.
Hero Glamour Xtec
Coming from the Hero bloodline, the Glamour Xtec is the fifth alternative on this list. It retails at Rs. 85,918 (ex-showroom, Delhi) and gets LED illumination, smartphone connectivity with a digital display, and a USB charging port as well. The Glamour Xtec packs a 124.7cc mill and it produces 10.72bhp and 10.6 Nm. It’s linked to a five-speed gearbox and offers a smooth riding experience. The Glamour takes on bad roads very well, and the engine, too, feels pretty solid. Not to mention, Hero’s extensive after-sales network is another plus.
