Hero MotoCorp is aiming to increase its international sales to 10 per cent of the total production. Hero MotoCorp announced intentions to widen its footprint to 50 countries by 2020 to help achieve this target.
Hero shipped off 2.1 lakh two-wheelers in the previous financial year, which was just over three per cent of its overall sales. While factors like high inflation in Latin America and fluctuations in prices of crude oil have affected global two-wheeler demand, the company is still optimistic of achieving the target.
Hero has been on an expansion spree ever since its split with long-time joint venture partner, Honda. Hero recently marked its entry in the Argentinian market with the launch of the new Glamour. Taking global expansion seriously, the company is aiming for emerging markets with a high growth rate. These markets are currently dominated by Chinese manufacturers as well as India’s biggest two-wheeler exporter - Bajaj Auto. Mexico will be the next country on Hero’s roadmap.
