Hero MotoCorp has plans of adding 15 new products to its domestic and international line up this fiscal. Many of these upcoming products will be Hero’s existing model range with the addition of its new i3S technology.
Chairman, MD and CEO Pawan Munjal, Hero MotoCorp was quoted saying, “We will have 15 new launches across segments in our domestic and global markets this fiscal, out of which three motorcycles will be introduced in the domestic market before the festive season. The new launches include the new Achiever 150 motorcycle, Super Splendor and Passion PRO with the Hero patented i3S technology”
This shouldn’t come as a surprise as we told you back in February about how Hero will gradually offer i3S technology on its commuter range. The products will also include all new bikes and scooters. To meet the production requirements for all these new two-wheelers Hero will also require new manufacturing facilities. Commenting on this, Munjal said that its upcoming plant in Gujarat will become operational in the third quarter of this fiscal. He also went on to add, "While the Bangladesh plant, our second manufacturing facility at a global location after Colombia, will begin operations in the fourth quarter of this fiscal."
The source also says that Munjal said that the BS-IV norms are round the corner but the real challenge is BS-VI norms that need to be adopted by April 1, 2020. He said, "We have accepted the challenge of BS-VI. The task is enormous, we do not know how much investment will go into the technology and how much can be passed on to the customer. It is too early to comment on the effect on prices."
