Hero MotoCorp will mark its entry in the Argentinian market with the launch of a new commuter motorcycle on January 12. A 125cc offering, this will be third Hero motorcycle to have been developed by the company’s in-house R&D division. (Hero Ignitor photo used for representational purposes only.)
Hero has so far launched two new in-house developed motorcycles since the split with its long-term joint venture partner, Honda. The new 125cc commuter bike will follow the footsteps of the Splendor iSmart 110 and the new Achiever and become the base for Hero’s future 125cc range. It will be powered by a BS IV-compliant engine, and will get auto headlamp on (AHO) feature to meet the Indian regulations.
Though Hero MotoCorp already has a presence in the 125cc motorcycle segment, this new model in all probability will coexist with the existing range. With the Glamour now being the highest-selling 125cc motorcycle, Hero will now attempt to gain a foothold in the premium commuter segment. While the Glamour is a no-frills commuter bike, the new 125cc motorcycle will be pegged as a premium offering targeted at customers looking for a sporty, stylish yet efficient motorcycle.
