Hero MotoCorp is going to launch three new commuter bikes in India tomorrow. Of these, the Passion Pro and Passion XPro are 110cc motorcycles while the Super Splendor is powered by a 125cc powertrain.
Visually, the Passion XPro gets a new design language similar to the Splendor iSmart 110. The headlamp is sharper, and gives the bike a modern look. The new Passion Pro looks relatively sober, and sticks to the same conservative design. The Super Splendor 125, which is again a no-frills commuter, also retains the sober design language, albeit with new decals. Under the skin, these bikes feature major changes.
While the current Passion and Super Splendor models are based on Honda platforms, these new bikes have been developed by Hero MotoCorp. The Passion Pro and XPro are powered by the 109cc single-cylinder engines from the Splendor iSmart 110. The engine delivers 9.3bhp and 9Nm of torque, and is mated to a four-speed gearbox. The Super Splendor’s 125cc engine on the other hand, is the same as the new Glamour. This engine delivers 11.4bhp and 11Nm of torque through a four-speed transmission. All three bikes feature Hero’s proprietary i3S start-stop system.
We expect Hero to adorn the new Passion Pro, XPro and the Super Splendor 125 with a slew of new paint schemes. They will be priced slightly higher than the existing range.
