What is it?
The XF3R is Hero MotoCorp’s another new naked concept motorcycle that was unveiled at the ongoing 2016 Auto Expo. And for those who don’t remember, the Hastur was another naked street fighter concept that was showcased a couple of years ago. So it looks like, the company has set its eye on the premium naked motorcycle segment. But, these are just the concepts for now.
Just like all other concept bikes, the XF3R too doesn’t have any detailed specifications. All we can tell is that it’s powered by a 200cc liquid-cooled engine that is mated to a six-speed gearbox. The bike is built around trellis frame, which has been painted in red to make the bike look more appealing. The other interesting aspect of this concept is that it sports a single-sided swingarm, which is a segment first. However, we would love to see the same setup in the production motorcycle, whenever that comes.
India relevance?
The 200cc motorcycle segment is quite an attractive one and that’s why TVS recently launched the Apache RTR 200 4V. But the segment first saw the Bajaj Pulsar 200NS, which now has been replaced by the Pulsar AS200. So whenever the Hero XF3R makes into production, it’ll have the Bajaj and the TVS to battle with.
Launch plans?
When we talk about launch plans of Hero’s concept bike, we take it with a pinch of salt. This is because Hero showcased a lot of concepts at the last auto expo and none of them made it to production, not even the HX250R, which was almost a production ready bike. So with the XF3R, there is the same uncertainty.
