-Powered by a 124.6cc engine
-Makes 9.4bhp and 10.16Nm
-Launch expected by end of 2024
Hero MotoCorp unveiled the upcoming Xoom 125R scooter at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2024. While the launch of the scooter is said to be still some time away, the specifications of the scooter were on display.
As per the spec sheet, the Xoom 125R is powered by a 124.6cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine. It produces 9.4bhp at 7,500rpm and 10.16Nm at 6,000rpm. The company says that these figures are of the “near production ready model.” However, there isn't likely to be a huge difference between this and the numbers of the production ready scooter.
If we are to compare the Xoom 125’s engine specifications with its rivals, the TVS Ntorq 125 is the one that comes close. The TVS is available in two engine configurations, standard that makes 9.25bhp and 10.5Nm whereas the Ntorq Race XP makes 10.06bhp and 10.8Nm. It’ll be interesting to see if Hero manages to squeeze a little more power from their engine to go head-to-head with the Ntorq Race XP.
Nevertheless, Hero’s Xoom 125R does appear to be quite promising for a sporty 125-segment scooter. The styling is one of its big draws with sharp cuts and creases across the bodywork. It’s a big departure from the Hero’s rather conservative scooter designs in the past.
Under the stylish bodywork is a steel frame suspended by a telescopic fork and a monoshock. The scooter rides on 14-inch wheels, a first in this segment. Braking duties are taken care of by a disc at the front and a drum at the rear. The spec sheet says that the scooter weighs 120kg which makes it heavier than competition.
The Hero Xoom 125R is expected to go on sale after a few months, perhaps around the festive season towards the end of this year.
