The Xoom 125R, showcased in India at the Hero World Day 2024, will mark Hero’s foray into the premium sporty 125cc scooter space, which is dominated by the TVS Ntorq 125. Let’s take a look at the Hero Xoom 125R in detail.
Engine Specifications
Powering the Xoom 125R will be a 124.6cc, air-cooled engine that will churn out 9.4bhp at 7,500rpm and 10.16Nm at 6,000rpm. The output figures are nearly identical to the base-spec TVS Ntorq 125. The single-cylinder motor will come paired with a CVT unit. According to Hero MotoCorp, the figures are of the “near-production” model and the actual numbers may vary marginally.
Styling
The Hero Xoom 125R looks like a bigger and jacked-up version of the Xoom 110, which is a very sporty-looking scooter nonetheless. The frontend, with the signature LED headlamp and sharp creases, looks sporty. Meanwhile, the midsection and the tail are equally athletic, while the stubby exhaust offers a good presence to the scooter.
Features
Feature-wise, the Hero Xoom 125R will come fitted with LED lighting all around and sequential turn indicators. Furthermore, it will also get a digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation, besides call and SMS notification alerts.
Cycle Parts
The scooter is underpinned by a steel frame, suspended by telescopic forks up front and a rear monoshock. The Xoom 125R will ride on first-in-segment 14-inch wheels while braking duties will be taken care of by a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the back. Meanwhile, the scooter will weigh 120kg, making it heavier than its rivals.
Expected Price and Competition
As we mentioned earlier, the Xoom 125R will go up against the TVS Ntorq 125, Honda Dio 125, and the Suzuki Avenis. In terms of pricing, we expect Hero to price it around Rs 80,000 (ex-showroom) for the base trim, while the top-sped model could be priced around 90,000 (ex-showroom). As for its launch timeline, sources suggest that the scooter is likely to go on sale in India towards the end of 2024 around the festive period.
