- Direct rival to the Yamaha Aerox 155
- Gets a keyless ignition system
- Launch might take place at Bharat Mobility Expo 2025
Hero Motocorp is prepping to enter the premium scooter segment with the Xoom 160 that was unveiled at the Bharat Mobility Expo in February 2024. Although the maxi-scooter was expected to be launched last year, some hiccups with the development have caused a delay in its debut. However, the official announcement might take place soon as the scooter was recently spied out in the open for the first time ever.
While the front and rear fenders of the scooter were covered, the rest of it was completely exposed, giving away its muscular and imposing design. It boasts a massive front apron with a tiny beak which lends it ADV scooter vibes. On top of it, there’s an angular dual LED headlamp along with a tall windscreen and protruding sides. It has a centre spine which houses the fuel tank and is flanked by long, sloping footrests. Typical of maxi-scooters, the tail section is a long unit with a sharp end and it accommodates a seemingly spacious seat. The presence of 14-inch wheels further adds to its visual mass.
Other details visible in the spy shot include a digital instrument cluster, a multi-function switch, an i3S button, and a fuel filler lid sitting on the centre spine. Apart from the under-seat storage provision, it also has a closed glove box at the front. As for the engine, the Xoom 160 will be powered by a 156cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine which produces close to 14bhp and 13.7Nm. It will also get a smart key and a keyless ignition system.
Considering these spy shots of the Hero Xoom 160 have surfaced just before Bharat Mobility Expo 2025, the official launch of the scooter might take place at the event. We expect it to be priced around Rs. 1.20 lakh, ex-showroom and it will compete against the Yamaha Aerox 155.
