Hero MotoCorp revealed the design sketches of the upcoming Xpulse 421 at EICMA 2024. More recently, the company patented its design, which offers us a clear look at the adventure motorcycle. In this article, we reveal everything we know so far about the Hero Xpulse 421.
ADV styling
According to the design patent, the Hero Xpulse 421 will feature a unique ADV styling, unlike anything on the market. The design is very different from the current Xpulse lineup and has shades of the Yamaha Tenere 700. It will feature a tall visor and a flat headlamp, while the bulk comes from the large fuel tank and the extended radiator shrouds. In true-blue ADV fashion, the motorcycle will feature a rear parcel rack, underbelly guard, and hand guards.
Engine and underpinnings
The Hero Xpulse 421 will be powered by an in-house developed 421cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine paired with a six-speed gearbox. Although power figures are unknown, sources suggest the motor could produce close to 45bhp and nearly 45Nm of peak torque. The engine will be housed inside a steel trellis frame.
Features
The Xpulse 421 is expected to get full-LED lighting, a colour TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, ride-by-wire throttle and multiple ride modes. It could also get switchable traction control and dual-channel ABS with the ability to switch it off at the rear wheel.
Cycle parts
As can be seen from the design sketches and the patent image, the bigger Xpulse will feature upside-down front forks and a linked rear monoshock. The motorcycle will likely ride on a 21/18-inch spoke wheel setup, wrapped in dual-purpose rubber. Meanwhile, the braking tasks will be handled by disc brakes at both ends.
Launch timeline
Hero MotoCorp is will likely to launch the Xpulse 421 in India in early 2026. The production-spec model could debut at EICMA 2025. Once launched, it will rival the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, 2025 KTM 390 Adventure S, and the upcoming BMW F 450 GS.
