The EICMA is the biggest global platform for two-wheeler manufacturers to showcase their new products and technological prowess. Hero MotoCorp marked its presence at the EICMA this year, by showcasing their Dakar rally bike and the new Xpulse. It might look like a bigger and modern Impulse, but hold your horses, for the Xpulse is still is a prototype and it might be a while before it goes into production. As a consolation, here is a photo gallery of the Hero Xpulse straight from the EICMA exhibition floor –
The Xpulse carries all the characteristic adventure-bike styling cues like a towering stance, sleek profile, raised handlebar and minimalistic bodywork.
The round headlamp gets a twin LED setup with a small windscreen on top. The Xpulse also gets two LED auxiliary lamps mounted on the leg guard.
The Xpulse gets a bash guard, chain guard, hand guards, clawed footpegs and an upswept to improve its off-roading capabilities.
The raised handlebar, sculpted fuel tank and the narrow single-piece seat should make it easy for the rider to stand up and ride.
The instrument cluster consists of a single digital display, with a design so far unseen in any production Hero model.
Hero refused to divulge details about the powertrain, although we expect it to be the 200cc unit powering the Xtreme 200S.
The brake setup consists of disc units at the front and rear. The Xpulse gets a single-channel ABS, with Nissin callipers at the rear.
The Xpulse rides on 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels. The spoke wheels are shod with dual-sport Metzler tyres.
To improve its touring capabilities, the Xpulse can be equipped with two hardcase side panniers. There is also a tail rack to secure additional luggage.
