Hero MotoCorp recently debuted its latest 125cc commuter, the Xtreme 125. The bike was launched not long ago and it rivals the TVS Raider 125. So, we have compared the two on paper and this is how they fair against each other.
Design
The new Hero Xtreme 125R looks sporty and has muscular bodywork all over. Its fascia looks distinct but reminds us of the Z1000. The fuel tank gets abundant cuts and creases, making the bike appear youthful. Then, the Raider, too, has a unique fascia followed by a butch fuel tank and split seats. Hero offers the Xtreme 125R in three colours –Cobalt Blue, Firestone Red, and Stallion Black. You can purchase it in two variants – IBS and ABS. On the other hand, the Raider is available in six different colour options – Blazing Blue, Striking Red, Fiery Yellow, Wicked Black, Black Panther, and Iron Man.
Features
Along with full LED illumination, the Xtreme 125R features a fully digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity for call and message alerts. Meanwhile, the Raider gets an LED headlight, LED taillight, bulb-type turn indicators, digital display, and a combined braking system.
Hardware
Both motorcycles ride on telescopic front forks and a monoshock, and their brakes comprise a front disc and rear drum setup. The 17-inch wheels, too, are common and the wheelbase for the two commuters is quite close. The Hero Xtreme 125R measures 1,319mm, while the Raider 125 is 1,326mm long.
Engine
Powering the Xtreme 125R is a 124.7cc, air-cooled engine that develops 11.4bhp at 8,250rpm and 10.5Nm at 6,000rpm. It comes mated to a five-speed gearbox. The Raider draws power from a 124.8cc, single-cylinder engine and it belts out 11.2bhp of maximum power at 7,500rpm and 11.2Nm at 6,000rpm. This motor is also linked to a five-speed gearbox. Both bikes are quite on par in terms of performance on paper.
Price
The asking price for the Hero Xtreme 125R starts at Rs. 95,000 for the IBS model, and goes up to Rs. 99,500 (both ex-showroom, Delhi), for the ABS trim. The Raider 125 retails at Rs. 95,219 for the single-seat model and goes up to Rs. 1,02,770 (both ex-showroom, Delhi) for the SmartXonnect. Thus, there’s a difference of around Rs. 2,000 between the top-spec models of the two motorcycles.
