Hero MotoCorp recently revamped its portfolio by launching the new 4V version of its sporty commuter, the Xtreme 160R. The motorcycle gets plenty of updates that make it a more appealing package. Besides a bunch of functional changes, Hero has made it visually more attractive by introducing four new paint schemes.
The Xtreme 160R 4V is now available in three variants, amongst which the top-end Pro variant comes in two paint schemes – Matte Slate Black and Neon Shooting Star. The former, as the name suggests, gets an all-black bodywork with subtle grey decals. Meanwhile, the latter looks more eye-catching with a combination of yellow and blueish-grey shades on its fuel tank. Moreover, the Pro variant looks beefier than other trims due to the presence of golden USD forks, as against the conventional telescopic units on the lower-spec versions.
A step below the Pro variant is Connected 2.0 which, as can be guessed by the name, offers smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth. This model is available only in Matte Slate Black colour which is similar to Pro but gets different decals. Furthermore, the most affordable standard variant can be had either in Neon Shooting Star or Matte Slate Black colour schemes.
Powering the new Xtreme 160R is an all-new 163cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine that produces 16.6bhp and 14.4Nm, and comes mated to a five-speed gearbox. It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels that are accompanied by a single disc at both ends. The list of available features includes full-LED lighting, a fully-digital instrument cluster, a 12-litre fuel tank, and single-channel ABS. Its kerb weight stands at 144kg.
The prices of the new Xtreme 160R 4V start from Rs. 1,27,300 (standard) and go up to Rs. 1,36,500 (Pro) (both prices are ex-showroom). It competes against the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Yamaha FZS FI, Suzuki Gixxer, and Bajaj Pulsar N160.
