Hero MotoCorp had recently launched the Xtreme 160R 4V in India a few days ago and we rode it in Jaipur for a brief period. After spending about a day with it, here’s what we think of the updated model.
The latest Xtreme 160R 4V mimics the design of the two-valve model but with subtle changes. It features an updated headlight that sits slightly lower, a revised belly pan, and a split seat as well (only for the Pro model).
Apart from that, Hero is also offering a new, fancier dual-tone paint scheme that enhances Xtreme’s youthfulness and makes it look even more appealing.
Meanwhile, Hero has also employed a new motor for the Xtreme 160R 4V rather than just updating the one used in the two-valve model. This one gets a different bore and stroke value as well as varied internals. It’s a 163cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled motor that dishes out 16.6bhp and 14.4Nm and is linked to a five-speed gearbox.
The changes have led to a rev-happy motor with a much better top-end grunt. But to retain the commuter aura, Hero has tweaked the gear ratios and the cogs are shorter, thereby retaining the low and mid-range power.
Another significant update for the Xtreme 160R 4V comes in the form of updated hardware. It rides on KYB USD front forks and a seven-step pre-load adjustable monoshock. We rode the bike on Hero’s test track and the roads of Jaipur and found out that the ride quality has improved.
The bike feels pliant and absorbs most of the bumps thrown at it. Moreover, even under hard braking, the Xtreme doesn’t bottom out.
But what about the brakes, features, overall handling, and pricing? We recommend you read our full first-ride review of the Hero Xtreme 160R 4V to find your answers.
