Hero MotoCorp intends to make a strong comeback in the entry-level performance segment after discontinuing the Xtreme Sports recently. The new motorcycle it’s betting big on is the Xtreme 160R. We took it for a short spin around Hero’s test track and came back mighty impressed. You can read about our experience here. Meanwhile, let’s take a look at the images of this upcoming Hero offering.
The aggressive streetfighter design of the 160R is majorly inspired by Hero’s Xtreme 1.R concept which was showcased at the 2019 EICMA show in Milan.
Starting up front, the angular bikini fairing houses a radical-looking headlamp which boasts of a geometric design.
The mid-section is occupied by a sculpted fuel tank accompanied by bold and beefy tank extensions sporting ‘Xtreme’ badge.
At the rear, the minimalistic tail lamp with smoked effect houses an LED setup which completes the svelte styling of the tail section.
Displaying information is a negative LCD display which shows speed, RPM, fuel level, odometer, trip meter and clock.
For accommodating the rider, the Xtreme gets a stepped, single-piece seat which is spacious enough for decent amount of comfort.
The motorcycle rides on 17-inch alloy wheels suspended by telescopic forks and monoshock along with disc brake at both ends, assisted by single-channel ABS.
Propelling the motorcycle is a 160cc, air-cooled engine which pumps out 15bhp at 8,500rpm and 14Nm at 6,500rpm.
Once launched, the Hero Xtreme 160R will compete against the Suzuki Gixxer, TVS Apache RTR 160 4V and the Yamaha FZ V3 in India.
