Hero MotoCorp has unveiled the production version of the Xtreme 200S, christened as the Xtreme 200R. Based on a brand new platform, the Xtreme 200R marks Hero's re-entry in the premium commuter segment.
While the Xtreme Sports is a conservative looking motorcycle, the Xtreme 200R takes an aggressive approach towards styling. The sculpted tank, shrouds and edgy tail section give it a sporty appeal. The instrument cluster consists of an analogue tachometer along with a digital display.
The 200cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine develops 18.3bhp and 17.1Nm of torque. This unit is based on the Achiever 150's engine. The Xtreme 200R is based on a new diamond frame and is the first independently developed Hero motorcycle to feature a rear monoshock. The monoshock has eight-step preload adjustment. It is also the first Hero bike to feature a rear radial tyre. It has disc brakes at both ends, with ABS being offered as an optional extra.
Deliveries of the Hero Xtreme 200R will commence in April 2018. We expect it to be priced competitively between Rs 90,000 and Rs 1 lakh.
