Hero MotoCorp is on a big roll. Along with the launch of the adventure-based XPulse 200 and the touring-based XPulse 200T, the two-wheeler manufacturer has also launched another motorcycle today. Christened the ‘Xtreme 200S’, it’s a faired version of the Xtreme 200R sold in India and had been competitively priced at Rs 98,500 ex-showroom, Delhi. The Xtreme 200S completes Hero’s premium product portfolio denoted by the ‘X’ which is present in other products like the Xtreme 200R, XPulse 200 and the XPulse 200T.
The Xtreme 200S comes wrapped around an all-new aerodynamic fairing featuring a sleek twin LED headlamp flanked by a pair of position lamps on either side. It also features a tank pad on the fuel tank, a single piece seat, all LED tail lamp, split-type grab rail and a sleek looking exhaust canister. The instrument cluster for the Xtreme 200S consists of a full-digital unit that is equipped with Bluetooth connectivity, gear position indicator and a service reminder apart from the standard features.
Moving to the mechanical bits, the Xtreme 200S shares its underpinning with the naked Xtreme 200R. It is powered by the same 200cc air-cooled single-cylinder mill with a carburetted fuelling system that is capable of producing 18.1bhp at 8000rpm and 17.1Nm at 6500rpm. The motor comes mated to a 5-speed constant mesh gearbox.
The suspension setup has also been borrowed directly from its naked sibling. The front features 37mm telescopic forks while the rear is equipped with a 7-step adjustable monoshock unit. For braking, the motorcycle employs a 276mm disc with single-channel ABS and a 220mm single disc at the rear.
The Xtreme 200S tips the scale at 149kg which is a kilogram more than the Xtreme 200R. Besides that, it has a seat height of 795mm and a ground clearance of 165mm. The motorcycle is availabe in three colour shades Sports Red, Mapple Brown and Panther Black.
On the competition front, the Xtreme 200S rivals against the Suzuki Gixxer SF and the Bajaj Pulsar RS200. Bookings for the faired Xtreme 200S have started while deliveries are expected to commence in two weeks.
