Hero MotoCorp has launched the new Xtreme 200S today. It’s the faired version of the Xtreme 200R already on sale in India. We have ridden the motorcycle at Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida and you can read its first ride review here. Meanwhile, here’s an image gallery of the newest faired motorcycle from Hero to feast your eyes upon.
The Xtreme 200S features all-new aerodynamic fairing that might not be the most beautiful one but is definitely good enough to draw attention. The fairing extends towards the fuel tank, covering a part of the motor before ending with a blacked out belly pan.
The rear section of the Xtreme 200S has been lifted directly from the Xtreme 200R including the tail, LED tail lights and split-type grab rail. The seat is a single piece type.
The motorcycle features an all-LED headlamp that is flanked by position lamps on the sides. It has a blacked out cladding surrounding the unit giving it a distinctive look. The side indicators, however, remain the conventional type with clear lens and amber bulbs.
The instrument console on the Xtreme 200S is an all-digital LCD unit displaying the required information to the rider. It also comes with a gear position indicator, service reminder and is equipped with Bluetooth connectivity for turn-by-turn navigation and call alerts.
Powering the faired Xtreme 200S is the same 200cc air-cooled single-cylinder motor that does duty on the Xtreme 200R. The motor is rated to produce 18.1bhp and 17.1Nm and comes coupled to a 5-speed constant mesh gearbox.
In terms of riding dynamics, the motorcycle handles pretty well. It comes shod with MRF tyres that offer ample grip when ridden on a race track.
The motorcycle features a blacked out compact upswept exhaust that adds to the overall sleek appeal of the motorcycle.
Up front, suspension duties are handled by 37mm telescopic forks while braking is done by a 276mm single disc with a two-piston caliper and is equipped with single-channel ABS.
Moving to the rear, the motorcycle features a 7-step adjustable monoshock, again borrowed from the Xtreme 200R. For braking, it employs a 220mm single disc with a single-piston caliper.
Hero MotoCorp has priced the Xtreme 200S at Rs 98,500 (ex-showroom, New Delhi) and at that price it rivals against the Suzuki Gixxer SF and the Bajaj Pulsar RS200. The bike is available in three colour options - Sports Red, Mapple Brown and Panther Black.
