Hero Motocorp is all set to enter the quarter-litre motorcycle segment with the Xtreme 250R. The bike was unveiled earlier this month at the EICMA show in Milan. While we wait for its official India launch to take place, here are the key details of the bike along with its pictures.
The Xtreme 250R is essentially the production version of the 2.5R Xtunt concept that was showcased at EICMA last year.
While its stance looks similar to the concept, the overall bodywork has been toned down to incline more towards function than form. Nevertheless, it’s a handsome motorcycle with sharp design lines throughout.
Hero displayed two colours of the bike at EICMA. One was a full black version equipped with accessories while the other was draped in a bolder red and white colour combination.
On the feature front, it gets a full-LED lighting system, a digital console with a lap timer, and dual-channel ABS with different modes, perhaps for altering the level of intervention.
Powering the bike is a new 250cc, liquid-cooled, DOHC, four-valve, single-cylinder engine that makes 30bhp at 9,250rpm and 25Nm at 7,250rpm.
Under the bodywork, there is a steel trellis frame that is suspended by a 43mm USD fork and a preload adjustable monoshock. The bike rides on 17-inch wheels with wide tyres and braking is handled by a disc brake at both ends.
Hero is expected to price the Xtreme 250R around Rs. 2 lakh (ex-showroom) mark. It will compete against the Suzuki Gixxer 250 and KTM 250 Duke.
