Hero Motocorp is expected to unveil its new quarter-litre street bike, the Xtreme 250R at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Expo 2025. The company has already shown the motorcycle at the EICMA show in Milan last year because of which we already have some of its details. In that case, here’s what to expect from the Xtreme 250R before it makes its India debut.
Design
The Xtreme 250R is undoubtedly a handsome-looking motorcycle. The designers seem to have taken inspiration from multiple products and the end result is a sporty and attractive streetfighter. The low-slung headlamp, sculpted fuel tank with sharp extensions, and the upswept tail section lend it a clean and athletic stance. The company has displayed the bike in two colours so far including black and red but we expect it to be available in more paint schemes.
Engine
Powering the motorcycle is a 250cc, liquid-cooled, DOHC, four-valve motor that is paired with a six-speed gearbox. This newly-developed engine will also be featured on the upcoming Karizma XMR 250. It produces 30bhp and 25Nm and sprints from zero to 60kmph in 3.25 seconds which is impressive. An assist and slipper clutch should also be a part of the package.
Features
The Xtreme 250R will get most of the features that are expected in a modern, quarter-litre street bike. There is LED lighting all around and the instrument cluster is a fully digital unit with Bluetooth connectivity and lap timer. Interestingly, it will also get dual-channel ABS with multiple modes.
Hardware
The motorcycle is underpinned by a steel trellis frame which is certainly a slightly tweaked version of the existing Karizma XMR’s chassis. It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels that are suspended by 43mm upside-down forks up front and a preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear. A single petal-type disc with a ByBre caliper handles braking duties at both ends.
Price
The Hero Xtreme 250R will compete against the Bajaj Pulsar N250 and the Suzuki Gixxer 250 in terms of displacement and body style. However, considering the Xtreme is a newer and more modern product, it will be more expensive than its rivals. Our calculated guess suggests that an ex-showroom price of around Rs. 2 lakh makes sense for the Xtreme.
