Hero Motocorp will unveil the Xtreme NXT in India tomorrow. While the manufacturer is unlikely to reveal the prices, we expect the bike to be priced around Rs 95,000.
The bike marks Hero’s re-entry into the premium commuter segment as a rival to the Bajaj Pulsar NS200, TVS Apache RTR 200 4V and Yamaha FZ25. The Xtreme NXT is the production version of the Xtreme 200S concept showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo. The bike is likely to borrow the latter’s sporty styling cues like the sculpted tank with the edgy extensions and the sharp rear end. The Xtreme NXT will also get the LED treatment for the headlamp and tail lamp. While the Xtreme 200S concept featured an analogue tachometer with a small digital display; we expect the production bike to get a fully-digital instrument cluster to keep up with the current trend.
Under its sharp clothing is a new chassis that houses a 200cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine. This unit produces 18.4bhp and 17.2Nmof torque that is mated to a six-speed gearbox. While the power figures are not over the roof, the bike will hit its targets in terms of fuel-efficiency. Hero Motocorp could offer ABS as option on the bike.
While the manufacturer created a hype with the Xtreme 200S concept three years ago, only time will tell if the Xtreme NXT could live up to it. We will be at the unveil of the Hero Xtreme NXT in Delhi tomorrow; stay tuned for live updates on our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter handles.
