The Xtreme Sports was first showcased more than nine months ago during the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo, but for some reason, Hero MotoCorp has kept pushing back the launch of the motorcycle. While the company is always very tight-lipped about its new product launches, a set of pictures leaked by a motoring website indicate that the launch of the Xtreme Sports isn’t very far away.
The pictures show that in term of design, Hero hasn’t strayed very far from the original Xtreme Sports it had showcased at the Auto Expo. In true Hero fashion, the motorcycle gets a new set of decals and colour options. The Sports logo adorns the fuel tank, which also gets a redesigned cowl. Hero MotoCorp has also added a new cowl underneath the engine.
Other cosmetic changes in the Xtreme Sports include split seats, a revised instrument console and a new exhaust canister. It seems that Hero has also updated the front fairing, which gets LED units, like the ones in the standard Xtreme. Hero will also offer a rear disc brake as an optional extra.
For once, the changes are more than just skin deep. While the Xtreme Sports will employ the same 149.2cc used in the standard Xtreme, reports suggest that the power has been increased from 14.2bhp to 15.2bhp. Torque figure has been retained at 12.8Nm. The engine will come with the same five-speed transmission.
The Xtreme Sports was recently spied during the shoot of its TV commercial, which means that we can expect the motorcycle to hit the showrooms in the next couple of months. The Xtreme Sports will compete with the other premium 150cc motorcycles like the Yamaha FZ-S 2.0 and the Suzuki Gixxer.
