- To be unveiled at EICMA 2023
- Teaser video reveals the design and name
- Official launch to take place later
Hero MotoCorp is all set to unveil a new scooter at this year’s EICMA show in Milan, Italy. The company recently teased the scooter on its social media channels. Besides revealing its design, the teaser gave away the name of the scooter - the Xoom 160.
As can be observed from the teaser, the Xoom 160 will essentially be a maxi-scooter with some adventure-centric traits. While the bulky front apron and windscreen are typical of maxi-scooters, the tall stance, large wheels, and seemingly long-travel suspension exude an ADV scooter-like vibe. Moreover, the beefy exhaust canister clearly adds to the imposing stance of the scooter.
Other details visible in the teaser image include the presence of alloy wheels, perhaps with a diameter of 14 inch, similar to the Yamaha Aerox 155 and Aprilia SR 160. Like most maxi-scooters, it also seems to be based on a frame with a centre spine, a structure which limits the storage space on the front. Now, details about the engine aren’t available yet. However, our guess says Hero will use a derivative of the Xtreme 160R 4V’s motor; similar to the platform sharing between the Yamaha R15 V4 and the Aerox 155.
At EICMA 2023, Hero is expected to just unveil the scooter while the official India launch might take place a few months later. Once launched, it will go up against the likes of the Yamaha Aerox 155 and the Aprilia SR 160.
