Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) have overtaken its former partner Hero MotoCorp in the 125cc-150cc motorcycle segment. According to Society of Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) data, in the 125cc -150cc engine capacity, HMSI sales went up by 76 per cent to 134,650 units between April and October for FY13 whereas for Hero MotoCorp, its sales declined by 53 per cent to 80,303 units.
HMSI has motorcycles like CBR 150R,CB Unicorn Dazzler, CB Unicorn, CB Shine, and CBF Stunner in the 125cc-150cc segment against Hero’s bikes including the Hunk, XTreme, Achiever, Impulse and the Glamour.
HMSI’s motorcycles like the CB Unicorn had a massive back log for a while, this has cleared off in past few months with increase in capacity. This has further inflated Honda’s figures. On the other hand Hero MotoCorp’s XTreme and Hunk were undergoing brand name change, so limited numbers were dispatch in August and September resulting in a noticeable drop in sales.
