-Activa 125 BSVI India launch next week
-124cc engine to produce slightly lesser power
-Expected to cost around Rs 64,000 to Rs 68,000
Honda is scheduled to launch the Activa 125 BS-VI in India on 11 September. It will be the company's first BSVI-compliant scooter to go on sale in the market.
The new Honda Activa 125 Fi looks similar to the current model although with subtle tweaks to set it apart visually. The full-LED headlamp is now sleeker and the LED position lamps are edgier. Moreover, the Activa 125’s side panels and tail lamps have also been redesigned and it also gets chrome highlights.
However, the most important update is the 124cc, BS-VI compliant engine which is now fuel-injected. According to leaked documents, the motor churns out 8.1bhp; a marginal decrease from the current model’s 8.5bhp output. The document also reveals that the scooter will be sold with a carburetted engine as well till the BS-VI norms kick in next year.
In terms of features, it comes with a semi-digital instrument cluster that displays real-time fuel-efficiency, range, mileage and a malfunction lamp. It also displays an odometer, ‘Eco’ indicator, clock, fuel gauge, speedometer and a service indicator. Honda has also fitted the Activa 125 BS-VI with an external fuel-filler cap and an idle-start-stop system that would help in conserving fuel. The scooter also comes equipped with first-in-class features like the Honda ACG Starter which starts up the engine with the same AC generator that charges the battery. This not only reduces the engine cranking noises to an extent but it also completely negates the use of a starter motor. The Honda Activa 125 also boasts of a side-stand indicator and engine inhibitor that prevents the engine from starting when the side stand is lowered.
Honda will also offer the Activa 125 BS-VI in six colour options and we expected it to be priced around Rs 64,000 to Rs 68,000. It will compete against the Hero Maestro Edge 125 and the TVS Ntorq 125 in India.
