The Activa 125 FI, Honda’s first BSVI scooter was unveiled in India recently. Apart from a BSVI-compliant engine, it also gets a host of other new features and technology along with a few subtle cosmetic changes. We tell you what’s new about the Honda Activa 125.
Styling tweaks
The new Honda Activa 125 retains most of the design of the current model although with subtle tweaks to its styling. The full-LED headlamp is sleeker and the LED position lamps are restyled to look edgier. The Activa 125’s side panels and tail lamps have also been redesigned to make the scooter look longer. It also chrome highlights and 3D embossed decals. Honda will also offer the scooter with six colour options.
Updated engine
The Honda Activa 125 uses a 124cc engine. However, it could get a few changes that make it BSVI-compliant. So, there is likely to be a closed-loop catalytic converter, electronic fuel injection, fuel-canister and an ECU.
Updated features list
Along with LED lighting, which has become a norm in the 125cc scooter segment, the Activa 125 sports a semi-digital instrument cluster. The unit displays real-time fuel-efficiency, range and mileage and a malfunction lamp that alerts the rider for any vehicle malfunction. It also displays basic information like odometer, ‘Eco’ indicator, clock, fuel gauge, speedometer and service indicator. The Honda Activa 125 now also comes equipped with a fuel-filler cap and an idle-start-stop system, similar to the one on the Hero Maestro Edge 125 that helps in conserving fuel.
Some more first-in-class features
Since Honda has been very generous with the new Activa 125 in terms of features, here are some that are first-in-class. It gets the Honda ACG Starter which cranks up the engine with the same AC generator that charges the battery. Not only does this reduce the engine cranking noises to a great extent, it also negates the use of a starter motor. The Honda Activa 125 also boasts of a side-stand indicator with engine inhibitor that prevents the engine from starting if the stand is down.
Expected launch timeline and pricing
Honda has not revealed the pricing of the Activa 125 but we expect it to cost between Rs 64,000 to Rs 68,000 (ex-showroom). Although, the manufacturer has revealed that it will launch the scooter around the festive season in India.
