With the launch of the Activa 125 FI, Honda has become one of the few companies who have already started rolling out BS-VI-compliant two-wheelers. The Japanese bikemaker has introduced three variants of the scooter which start at Rs 67,490 for the Standard model and goes up to Rs 74,490 for the Deluxe trim. In a two-wheeler market as diverse as India’s, you have plenty of alternatives around this price range. Here’s what the grid looks like.
The new Activa 125 FI comes equipped with a host of features and the TVS Ntorq 125 sits close to it in this department. The talking point of the Ntorq is the SmartXConnect display which connects with your smartphone via Bluetooth and lets you access messages, calls and turn-by-turn navigation. It also displays ample of information such as average speed, top speed recorded and lap timer, besides basic information. Furthermore, the 125cc motor of the Ntorq is one of the peppiest in its segment and not to forget its throaty exhaust note. Coming to the pricing, you can buy the Ntorq 125 with drum brakes for Rs 58,872 and with a front disc for Rs 59,995.
If you are looking for a fuel-injected scooter similar to the new Activa 125 but on the more affordable side, then the Hero Maestro Edge 125 Fi fits the bill. Its 125cc, fuel-injected powerplant churns out 9.1bhp, which is slightly higher than the Activa 125’s power output. It comes equipped with a decent set of features such as a signature LED DRL, LED tail lamp and a semi-digital instrument cluster. Priced at Rs 63,200, the Maestro Edge 125 FI is about Rs 4000 cheaper than the Standard variant of the Activa 125 FI.
Around the same price of the Activa 125 Fi, you can have the maxi-scooter-styled Suzuki Burgman Street 125. Besides featuring a smooth 125cc motor, it sports a bold LED headlamp with LED DRLs, LED tail lamp, a fully-digital instrument cluster and an inclined footboard which offers a cruiser-like riding position. Suzuki has pegged the Burgman Street 125 at Rs 69,898.
For those who desire something sporty and agile, the Aprilia SR 125 can be an ideal option. Although it misses out on features like LED headlamp and semi-digital instrument cluster, the tubular steel trellis frame and large 14-inch wheels lend it stability and handling dynamics similar to a motorcycle. Furthermore, its minimalistic yet sporty styling is complimented by bold colour options such as yellow and blue with edgy graphics. It is priced at Rs 74,072 which is close to the Activa 125 Fi’s Deluxe variant.
For all the environmentalists who want an eco-friendly ride, Okinawa has recently launched the PraisePro at Rs 71,990. Typical of an electric scooter, it comes loaded with features such as full-LED lighting, fully-digital instrument cluster, keyless ignition and anti-theft alarm. However, the main highlight of the PraisePro is a 2kW lithium-ion battery which is detachable.
