The Honda Activa 3G has been launched in India at Rs 48,853 (ex-showroom Delhi). The Activa 3G is an updated version of Honda’s popular 110cc scooter, the Activa 110, which has been revised with minor cosmetic updates and new paint schemes.
Styling wise, Honda has taken a ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ approach and the look of the new Activa 3G isn’t very different from the current Activa’s design. The Activa 3G gets a different set of badging and new colour schemes, which lend it a premium look. The tail lamp assembly has also been redesigned along the lines of the Activa 125 scooter, though the instrument cluster and a majority of other components have been carried over from the previous model.
The Activa 3G is powered by the tried and tested 110cc Honda Eco Technology (HET) engine which delivers 8bhp and 8.7Nm of torque through a CVT transmission. The Activa 3G gets hydraulic spring loaded suspension at both the ends, just like its predecessor.
The Activa is a very popular scooter, which managed to revive the dying segment when it was launched, more than a decade ago. The Activa even managed to dethrone the Hero Splendor as the country’s top-selling two-wheeler a couple of times in 2014. While Honda’s attempts at cashing in on the Activa moniker with the Activa-i and the Activa 125 hasn’t been as successful, we believe that the new Activa 3G will continue to set the cash registers at Honda ringing. The Honda Activa 3G will be available in black, blue, white, grey and red paint schemes, and competes with other 110cc scooters like the TVS Jupiter, Hero Maestro, Mahindra Gusto and the TVS Wego.
