Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) achieved another milestone in July by selling the highest number of Activas in July. This makes it the highest sales achieved by a manufacturer amongst all two-wheelers sold in the Indian market.
The company sold 1,91,883 units of the Activa (110 and 125) last month and also showed a growth of 64 per cent from July 2013 to July 2014. This is the third time since the past 11 months that the manufacturer has achieved this landmark of achieving highest sales of the Activa.
Yadvinder S. Guleria, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India said, "We are excited that Activa has once again become the highest selling two-wheeler in India. This is more significant since an automatic scooter displaced a motorcycle for numero uno position in the Indian two-wheeler industry. This clearly indicates that Activa is exponentially getting acceptance as the most preferred choice of two-wheeler for commuting. In the last few years scooters have evolved and become more technologically advanced, fuel efficient and stylish. The high growth of scooters in India has primarily been led by Honda and we are confident of maintaining this leadership in future.”
The Honda Activa was launched in 2001-2002 and ever since then the scooter has brought tremendous growth in terms of sales for the manufacturer. The two-wheeler got updates from time to time and the latest model gets HET as a technology upgrade for improving fuel economy. The Activa was only available with a 110cc engine, but recently Honda also introduced another model with a 125cc engine which has received an overwhelming response from the market.
