- Honda sold 55,000 Activa scooters in its first year
- It touched the one crore sales mark in 2015
- The scooter received a major upgrade in 2009
Honda India has sold over two crore units of its popular scooter, the Honda Activa in India. By achieving this feat, the Activa has become the only scooter to reach the aforementioned sales mark in the country.
The Honda Activa was launched in India in 2001 with 55,000 units of the scooter being sold in the first year itself. Later, it was in 2015 that it achieved record sales of one crore units.
The scooter is now in its fifth generation and it received its first major upgrade in 2009. The company has been carrying forward the same overall design since then with simple yet elegant-looking aesthetics. It is powered by a 109cc engine that produces 8bhp of power and 9Nm of torque. There’s also a more premium 125cc version which generates 8.5bhp and 10.5Nm.
The Honda Activa comes equipped with LED headlamps, analogue speedometer and a digital cluster which consists of a trip meter, odometer, service reminder, clock and fuel indicator. The 10-inch wheels are anchored by drum brakes on both ends and accompanied by a combi brake system (CBS).
The Honda Activa 5G is available in standard and deluxe variants and competes against the TVS Jupiter 110, Hero Maestro Edge and the Hero Duet.
