The Honda Activa e: electric scooter has finally been launched in India at Rs. 1.17 lakh (ex-showroom). The Japanese e-scooter is available in two variants and here are the top five highlights of the electric scooter.
Simple design
The Honda Activa e: boasts a simple yet distinctive design. Key styling elements include an apron-mounted LED headlight, LED DRLs on the handlebar cowl, and subtle creases and silver accents on the side panels. The flush-fitting pillion footrests add a touch of refinement.
The tail section is well-executed, featuring a stylish LED tail light with a dark smoke effect. Overall, the Honda Activa e: boasts a pleasing and well-designed appearance. It is available in five colours - Pearl Shallow Blue, Pearl Serenity Blue, Pearl Misty White, Matt Foggy Silver Metallic, and Pearl Igneous Black.
Swappable batteries
The Activa e: utilizes a pair of 1.5kWh swappable batteries, offering a combined capacity of 3kWh. Honda claims a range of 102km on a single charge. However, unlike some competitors like the Vida V1, these batteries are not designed for home charging. Riders must rely on Honda's network of battery swapping stations to obtain a fully charged replacement.
While Honda is expanding its network, currently with 84 stations in Bengaluru and further installations planned for Mumbai and Delhi, the availability of these stations may influence purchasing decisions. Riders will need to plan their routes considering the scooter's range and the accessibility of swapping stations.
TFT display
The top-spec Activa e: features a TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, enabling incoming call alerts and navigation. While the display offers a crisp and clean layout, it lacks touch functionality. Navigating through settings requires the use of a toggle switch on the left handlebar.
Specifications
The Activa e: employs a swingarm-mounted motor delivering a peak output of 6kW. This enables a 0-60kmph sprint in 7.3 seconds. The scooter offers three riding modes: Eco, Standard, and Sport, with a top speed of 80kmph.
Variants and availability
The Honda Activa e: is available in two variants - Standard and RoadSync. The latter is priced at Rs. 1.52 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings are open across Honda dealerships and deliveries will commence from February 2025.
