The new Honda Activa electric scooter will be unveiled today. This is the Japanese manufacturer’s first EV for India. Here is what to expect.
Swappable batteries
The Activa Electric will get two swappable batteries. The convenience offered by these removable batteries is immense as it allows one to haul the battery pack to their home/office and charge them. This removes the issues with setting up charging stations in parking lots. Swappable battery stations will also make it quick and easy to swap out a depleted battery with a fully charged battery in seconds.
TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity
The top-spec variant will get a TFT display. It looks neat and crisp while also featuring Bluetooth connectivity. It is also likely to get music controls and navigation. The lower-spec scooter will get a simple LCD
Two ride modes
The EV will have two ride modes- Sport and Standard. The latter will offer slower throttle response and maximise range while the Sport mode will offer faster acceleration and perhaps a higher top speed as well. However, range will take a hit.
Range of 104km
The Activa-E is likely to offer a range of 104km. This will be in the same ballpark of competition like the Vida V1, Ather Rizta and more. The range should be enough for the scooter to serve as a city runabout.
Competition
The Honda Activa electric scooter will go up against the TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, Ola S1 range, Ather Rizta and the Vida V1.
